Student watches virtual realityFor those who like video games, virtual reality (VR) or animation, the 6th annual Animation & Game Fest is an event they won’t want to miss. It will feature student-created games to play, student created art and animation, VR, giveaways, music and free pizza.

All this happens Dec. 3rd, from 10am to 3pm in Building 13.

Festival backdropThe event serves a dual purpose: 1) as a way to promote the academic programs, and 2) the students’ first opportunity to publicly showcase their work.

It almost always boosts your confidence. It’s an integral part of your development.”

Students play video gamesIt may see like just a fun and games major, but in California, video games are a huge industry with 900 video game companies and 33,000 employees in the Golden State.

“There is a very rewarding and satisfying career in the animation and game industries of Southern California for students with the right education, portfolio, and attitude,“ said Thankamushy, noting that any job search engine will display numerous openings for entry-level positions in Southern California. Many of the world’s largest game development companies are based in the LA basin, known as “Silicon Beach”.
