Mt. SAC’s annual Farm Day returns on Saturday, Nov. 16, and the entire campus and surrounding communities can expect a bountiful harvest of entertainment.

“For the Agricultural Department, this is the biggest day of the year,” said Chaz Perea, PhD., professor of horticultural science, “and we are honored to be able to share it with the community.”

The free festivities begin at 9 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. Parking also is free. Photo of a pig.

For the young farmhands who visit, bounce houses, bubble machines, pony rides, petting zoos, and hayrides are among the activities that await them.  There will be demonstrations too, like cow milking, sheep shearing, gardening tips, and more.

While the event is free, there will be food, beverages, and plants available for purchase.

“We are anticipating more foot traffic, so we will be doubling up food vendors, drink options, and opening up another entrance (by Sherman Park) to the event,” said Cesia Paniagua, professor of registered veterinary technology.

With a larger crowd expected this year, EMTs and Campus Safety will be on hand to keep everyone safe.
