Mt. SAC Impresses at Regional Speech and Debate Championship

The Mt. SAC Speech and Debate Team closed the 2026 Fall Semester with a successful showing at the PSCFA Fall Championship Tournament on Dec. 5-7 on campus.

Mt. SAC earned 90 sweepstakes points and secured first place among community colleges, surpassing El Camino College (67 points) and Diablo Valley College (58 points).

The team earned 30 total awards, including 17 top three finishes.

This was one of the largest Fall Champs tournaments in recent history with 39 colleges and universities attending and more than 500 students competing in three days of competition. 

With 77 total awards won this fall semester, the Mt. SAC team is now setting its sights on the winter and spring semesters. The schedule includes various tournaments across California, the International Championships in Athens, Greece, the State Championship in Northern California, the Phi Rho Pi National Championship in Washington, D.C., and the Readers Theater Nationals here at Mt. SAC in May.
