Grant Funds Student Research and Internships

Students conducting research and at an internship

March 09, 2023 - 02:59 PM

Updated March 2023

Students have new opportunities to participate in research and internships thanks to a prestigious federal grant, focused on STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Math). Mt. SAC received the $1-million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to engage STEM students in either an authentic research experience at UC Irvine, Cal Poly Pomona, and Huntington Medical Research Institutes this Summer, or participate in an industrial internship at a local industry.

Interested students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is April 10, 2023, but students may still inquire about space availability after that time.

The program provides financial support coupled with advising and mentoring to the selected Mt. SAC STEM students to enhance their academic success.

For more information about the program, please visit the program website at https://www.mtsac.edu/undergraduate-research or contact the project directors, Dr. Iraj Nejad (inejad@mtsac.edu) and Dr. Alvin Kung (akung@mtsac.edu).

Nejad and Kung provide more information about the program in the video below.
