The public is invited to provide comment Wednesday evening on proposed changes to Mt. San Antonio College trustee areas.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is held at Founders Hall, 1100 N. Grand Ave. Pandemic protocols are in place, and masks are required when inside.

Every 10 years, following the completion of the United States census, trustee areas must be redrawn so that each area within the Mt. San Antonio Community College District is substantially equal in population. This process, known as redistricting, is important in ensuring that each Mt. SAC board member represents the same number of constituents.

Two maps developed by consulting firm Redistricting Partners, and with input from trustees, are under consideration. One map maintains the current boundaries of trustee areas. The second map makes modifications only to Trustee Area 5, represented by Jay Chen, and Trustee Area 6, represented by Judy Chen Haggerty.

Once the Board of Trustees approves the final map, Redistricting Partners will submit the selected map to the Los Angeles County Office of Education and the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder for compliance with the decennial federal census redistricting requirement.
