Chinese Cultures and Histories Workshop

Mt. SAC will host the Second Annual Chinese Cultures and Histories Workshop, a series of presentations on China, on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 1 – 2, in the Design Technology Center auditorium, building 13, room 1700.

  • Monday, Oct. 1, 1:15 – 2:40 p.m., “China’s Millennials on Social Media: The Hot, the Cool, and the Funny,” with Yang Guobin, Professor of Communication and Sociology at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 2, 9:45 – 11:10 a.m., “Art in Contemporary China: Cultural Practice, Politics, Money, and Fame,” with Stanley Murashige, Professor Emeritus, School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1:15 – 2:30 p.m., “The Intelligence Revolution: Contemporary Buddhist Reflections on the Predicaments of Human Becoming,” with Peter Hershock, Director of Asian Studies Development Program and Education Specialist at the East-West Center in Honolulu.
