First Peoples Native Center holding holiday event

The First Peoples Native Center closes out Native American and Indigenous Heritage Month by embracing joy as resiliency with Indigenous comedian Jim Ruel on Nov. 20 from 4-6 p.m. in Building 410-2030.

The event will celebrate Indigenous resiliency with a Decolonizing Thanksgiving and Closing Ceremony.

Ruel is a member of the Bay Mills Band of Ojibwe tribe and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has been featured on Goin Native: the American Indian Comedy Slam on Showtime and First Nations Comedy Experience on FNX and was a finalist in NBC’s Diversity Talent Search.
