Theater Department wins seven awards

The Theater Department enjoyed a lot of success when Competition Coach and Chair of Theater, Christine Cummings, took 13 students to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Regional Competition in Glendale, CA this Winter, bringing home seven awards.

The students contributing to the team's success included Sherrie Sanders, the Regional Nominee for the Dramaturgy Fellowship at the National Dramaturgy Conference at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Reise Ili, Justin Ni, and Ella Soltero also swept the Student Choice Awards in Comedic Acting.  Reise and Justin also won Best Performance Awards for the Next Steps Auditions. The team’s success continued with Jocelyn Loera and Sherrie Sanders, with their scene partners, Mikalya Nance and Daisy Kaur, advancing to the Regional Semi-Finals in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition, making the top 45 of over 350 competitors in Mt. SAC's four-state region.
