Rene Watson – 2014 Kepler

After receiving the Kepler scholarship I was chosen for an astrophysics internship and worked alongside Dr. Mike and Carol Hood and am involved in the scientific research published and presented at the Southern California Undergraduate Research Conference. In 2015 I began working as a telescope demonstrator for Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. I have discovered my love of teaching and am now working towards a teaching certification to obtain a job for a non-profit integrated into San Francisco’s public school system that teaches students K-5th grade, in a school garden setting, about science, plants, and sustainability. I am very thankful for all the opportunities that have been afforded to me since receiving the Kepler Scholarship.
