Joshua Serrano – 2016 Kepler

Since winning a Kepler award and working very closely with the Mt SAC astronomy program, I have spent a majority of my professional career working on space-related projects at the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL). In my short but ongoing tenure at JPL, I have worked on Cassini, SPHEREx, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, EPOXI, InSight, and the upcoming Mars 2020 rover in various roles ranging from flight operations to software and cybersecurity engineering, as well as conducting astronomy research. My time at Mt SAC was valuable not only in my learning experiences but also in giving me a general direction with my career that has enabled me to work on cutting edge space technologies.
