Adam Hoffmann – 2014 Kepler

I am a senior at Northern Arizona University, where I am majoring in geology and minoring in chemistry. While at NAU I was selected as the 2016 recipient of the Outstanding Junior Award in the geology department. During my junior year, I submitted a proposal for funding that was accepted through the Hooper Undergraduate Research Award program. This enabled me to study the effects of talc mineralization on biosignatures preservation in stromatolitic carbonates. This research was performed in an ongoing internship at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory under Dr. Kenneth Williford whom has been my mentor since I was a student at Mt. SAC. In my senior year, I have continued this research along with taking a variety of both undergraduate and graduate classes to finish my degree. Throughout my time at NAU, my professors have recognized me as the outstanding senior in the department and have thus nominated me as the geology representative for the Outstanding Senior Award in the College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Science. I look to further my research in a PhD program in the Fall at either UC Riverside or the University of Southern California all while working at JPL.
