Mt. San Antonio College and Athletics
A Legacy of Excellence and Distinction
Since 1946, Mt. San Antonio College has been one of the premier community colleges
in the nation. Today, Mt. SAC is home to more than 58,000 students annually, and our
mission is to create an environment of excellence, where the best can thrive. The
Mt. SAC Athletics Programs are a vital part of this mission.
Each year, Mt. SAC Athletics welcomes more than 800 student-athletes to campus, and
each year they are among the college’s top-performing students. At Mt. SAC, we believe
our athletes are students first. We take great pride in working with our athletes
to develop the values, disciplines, and habits that make them some of the best students
on campus.
Athletics is an integral part of our students’ education, and education is an integral
part of Mt. SAC Athletics. When they graduate, we know our student-athletes are prepared
for whatever opportunities that lie ahead.
Hilmer Lodge Stadium: The Stuff of Legends
Mt. SAC Athletics has left its mark not only on our Mountie student-athletes but also
on the world around us. Our legendary Hilmer Lodge Stadium has been home to:
- 3 Olympic Team Trainings
- 2 Olympic Trials
- 25 World Records
- 50 National Records
- The Largest Continuous Running Track & Field Competition in the World
- The Largest Cross Country Invitational in the World
Athletes and Olympic hopefuls from across the globe come to Mt. SAC annually to compete
against the world’s best at the Mt. SAC Relays and Cross Country Invitational. Perhaps
even more importantly, Mt. SAC is using these events as opportunities to encourage
the athletes of the future. Mt. SAC has given more than 330,000 young athletes an
unprecedented opportunity to advance their skills and compete alongside the best track
and field athletes in the world.
We intend to carry on this tradition of excellence with a bid for the 2020 Olympic
Trials. Currently in progress, Project 2020 will transform Hilmer Lodge Stadium into
a state-of-the-art track and field, cross country, and football facility where the
world’s foremost athletes can come to train, compete, and learn from each other.
Mountie Athletics: History in the Making
Over the years, our 22 teams have earned:
- 177 South Coast Conference Championships since 1970
- 64 CCCAA State Championships
- 9 South Coast Conference Supremacy Awards
- 5 NATYCAA Cup Championships
- 4 National Championships
- 1 Learfield Sports Directors Cup National Supremacy Championship
Today, the Mt. SAC Athletics program continues to build on this legacy. In 2015, Mt.
SAC Athletics was named the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Community College National
Champion, the most prestigious title a collegiate athletics program can earn.
In the 2014-2015 season, 8 teams placed in the top 3 at the California State Championships,
and 4 of them earned the top title. We also won our third consecutive NATYCAA Cup
Championship, an award that recognizes overall athletic excellence at the two-year
college level. Mt. SAC is the first college to win 5 NATYCAA championships overall
and 3 consecutively.
