Monico has been the Creative Director for Studio13 since 2017 and has over 20 years of experience as a professional graphic designer. He began his career as a freelance web designer in the real estate industry. After, he expanded into retail, developing marketing strategies and designing advertisements, environmental graphics, clothing, e-commerce websites, and trade show displays. He’s also worked on various projects for social media marketing, landing pages, and even published book covers. Monico specializes in web design, vector illustration, layout, and typography.

When the sun is down, he moonlights as a designer and consultant, but during the daylight, he pursues his passion for student success and manages Studio13, Mt. SAC’s student-operated multimedia design studio. He mentors students and provides them with real industry experience through marketing materials and special projects for different departments on campus. Here, students learn critical skills that will help them succeed in the industry, such as project management, client relations, and print production. Through his leadership, students have successfully produced projects both large and small in scale at a quality that far exceeds client expectations.

When he’s not at Mt. SAC, you can find Monico climbing mountains or flying down them during winter. If you join Studio13, you will see him occasionally transform into a chef, where he will supply you with the best crepes on the west coast or charcuterie boards that are almost too spectacular to eat.
