Placement, Readiness, and Progress: First Year Success Committee (PReP)

Purpose

The Placement, Readiness, and Progress: First-Year Success Committee promotes equitable access and first-year success by evaluating placement, onboarding, and instructional practices that support student achievement in the earliest stages of their academic journey.

Functions

The Council's functions are to:

  • Recommend equitable placement, assessment, orientation, and counseling strategies in alignment with state policy and best practices.
  • Analyze disaggregated first-year student data to identify disproportionate impact and guide instructional and structural improvements.
  • Recommend early academic support strategies, such as co-requisite models and first-year learning communities.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Research and Institutional Effectiveness (RIE) to assess the impact of onboarding and gateway course interventions.
  • Recommend professional development that advances culturally responsive pedagogy for first-year success.
  • Ensure that equity considerations are embedded in early curriculum, outcomes assessment, and program development processes.

Meeting Schedule

The PReP Committee meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 3:00 – 4:25 p.m., in building 414, conference room 414-2130
