A Summer In Sustainability

Mounties! We congratulate you on all your hard work this semester and as finals week quickly approaches and the semester comes to a close, we would like to take the opportunity and share some wonderful opportunities in sustainability and climate action this summer. A summer hiatus is a perfect chance to explore your passion for our planet while gaining hands-on and tangible experience in the field. Opportunities are bountiful for both staff and students looking to incorporate sustainability in their lives and professions!
For Faculty

The Los Angeles Extreme Weather & Coastal Forum
Join the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability
(LARC) and USC Sea Grant for a collaborative workshop and a day of networking with
environmental and coastal practitioners, Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM
at the USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience (MCB) Room 101. As Southern
California faces more frequent heat waves and destructive fires, the need for interdisciplinary
approaches and creative solutions is imperative. To dig into these connections, sessions
will cover:
- Heat Relief & Equity: Understanding the impact of extreme heat on coastal visitation and ensuring public knowledge of coastal access rights.
- Post-Fire Impacts: Examining how inland wildfires affect marine ecosystems and beach safety through runoff.
- Resilience Funding: Sharing resources on State grant programs to fund extreme heat and coastal adaptation investments.
Visit their event page for more information and to register for FREE.
