This interactive workshop, led by Covina Kendo Dojo, introduces students to kendo, one of Japan’s traditional martial arts rooted in samurai discipline and philosophy. https://www.covinakendo.org/

Through a live demonstration and guided explanation, participants will gain insight into how kendo emphasizes not only physical technique, such as posture, footwork, and focus, but also character development, including respect, perseverance, and self-discipline.

In addition to deepening students’ understanding of Japanese culture through martial arts, the event will also introduce the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center, a local cultural hub offering a variety of classes and programs.

Students interested in continuing their exploration of Japanese culture will learn about opportunities to engage further through the center’s cultural and educational offerings.
