Facing harassment, threats and even efforts to criminalize their work, The Librarians follows librarians across the country who are fighting attempts to remove books from their shelves, particularly books featuring LGBTQIA+ stories, people of color, and issues of race and identity. The film examines what happens when stories that affirm people’s identities, families, and lived experiences are treated as inappropriate and dangerous.

This program is part of the Library and Equity Center’s Banned Books Month programming in support of the freedom to read.
