New Numbers, Same Classes! Check Your Courses Before Registering

Big changes are here! Some of our most popular classes have new course numbers and names.

These are the same classes, same professors, same transfer credit—just with updated names and numbers to match other colleges in California. These changes also apply to related Honors courses with an "H" after the number, such as ENGL C1000H.

EFFECTIVE FALL 2025

  • ENGL 1A: Freshman Composition → ENGL C1000: Academic Reading & Writing
  • ENGL 1C: Critical Thinking & Writing → ENGL C1001: Critical Thinking & Writing
  • MATH 110: Elementary Statistics → STAT C1000: Introduction to Statistics
  • PSYC 1A: Introduction to Psychology → PSYC C1000: Introduction to Psychology
  • POLI 1: Introduction to American Government & Politics → POLS C1000: American Government & Politics
  • SPCH 1A: Public Speaking → COMM C1000: Introduction to Public Speaking

EFFECTIVE FALL 2026

  • AHIS 4 — History of Western Art: Prehistoric Through Gothic →  ARTH C1100 — Survey of Art from Prehistory to the Medieval Era
  • AHIS 5 — History of Western Art: Renaissance Through Modern → ARTH C1200 — Survey of the Art from the Renaissance to Contemporary
  • BUSC 1A — Principles of Macroeconomics → ECON C2002 — Principles of Macroeconomics  
  • BUSC 1B — Principles of Microeconomics  → ECON C2001 — Principles of Microeconomics
  • ENGL 1B — Introduction to Literary Types → ENGL C1002 — Introduction to Literature
  • HIST 7 — History of the United States to 1877 → HIST C1001 — United States History to 1877
  • HIST 8 — History of the United States from 1865 → HIST C1002 — United States History since 1865
