The History and Importance of HBCUs: Presentation & Panel Discussion
Wednesday, Sept 24th | 11am - 1pm
Multicultural Center [Bld 410, Rm 2030]
CBCSS is proud to spotlight the value and contributions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities during HBCU Week. The California Legislature (Measure ACR 222) has designated the 4th week of September as HBCU Week in California. It is a time to celebrate HBCUs — their impact on education, culture, and community; as well as opening doors for Black students to explore the resources and opportunities at these incredible institutions.
Join us for an engaging presentation and panel discussion between staff and faculty while we explore the rich history and importance of HBCUs with Special Guest Dr. Helen Young. We will focus on how to better inform, support, and encourage students to consider HBCUs as valuable options in their academic journeys. Through historical context, current insights, and practical strategies, we’ll examine how to elevate HBCUs advising and outreach efforts. We would love for this to be a robust conversation, so we strongly encourage you to invite your coworkers and peers to attend!
