Local Election Results- We declare Victory on Measure V!

November 25, 2024 - 03:27 PM

Dear Mt. SAC Family,

I hope you are well. Since the general election, we have been patiently waiting for results from Los Angeles County voters who were considering Measure V, Mt. SAC's educational bond measure. While the outcome has yet to be certified by election officials, sufficient time has passed for mail-in ballots and those that require additional verification to be considered. I'm proud to say our district's voters have approved the bond to support Mt. SAC, our educational mission and our students! At this time, it appears voters have passed Measure V by about 55.60% with 140,409 ballots cast in favor. We needed 55% to pass the measure.

The passage of Measure V means our local voters understand the critical role we play in training, educating and enriching our community. Measure V costs approximately $15 per $100,000 of assessed property value. It will generate $750 million for Mt. SAC to address important facilities needs, such as the Technology and Health Building, School of Continuing Education facility, Library enhancements, and critical infrastructure updates. Ultimately, these improvements are to further Mt. SAC’s academic mission and help students succeed. We will work closely with the Citizens’ Oversight Committee to ensure every single bond expenditure is spent appropriately. You can learn more about Measure V by visiting our informational website at www.mtsac.edu/measurev.

Public support for Mt. SAC's future plans is all thanks to our students, employees and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to advance our college and represented us so well in the community. I want to thank each of you for your role in making Mt. SAC the dynamic place of learning it is today and in the years to come.

Additionally, equally important news, our voters have also confirmed they support our college board leadership and will continue to be represented by Dr. Manuel Baca for Area 7, Jay Chen for Area 5, and Peter Hidalgo for Area 1.

Thank you for your continued support of Mt. SAC and our students.
