2025 | Poinsettias Sale

Sale from December 1 - 19, 2025

It wouldn’t be the holidays without poinsettias to make our homes festive and colorful.  Poinsettias come in many colors, have long lasting flowers, and make great gifts.

These unique and beautiful plants are native to Mexico and are grown on the Mt. SAC campus by horticulture students.

This year, you can pickup and pay for your poinsettias in Greenhouse 5.

    • How to care for Poinsettias
      1. Remove the paper sleeves used to protect your poinsettia during transport.
      2. Poinsettias like bright light so place them near a window or lamp.
      3. Check them for water every couple of days.
      4. You can do this by sticking your finger in the soil to see if it is wet or dry.
      5. Remove the protective foil, water (until water runs out of the drain holes), stop, and let drain.
      6. The soil should be damp, but not muddy.
      7. Poinsettias do best with temperatures between 65-75 degrees.
      8. You can also put them on your porch in an area that is protected from wind and excessive cold.
      9. Poinsettias are fully rooted plants that you can plant in your garden once the weather warms up towards the end of March.
      10. When you plant them remember that they need 4-6 weeks to spread their roots.
      11. They do best in full sun and watered weekly.
