Cash for College to give students financial options

Mt. SAC will hold Cash for College, its financial aid and scholarship fair, on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025.

Registration is available for two sessions, one at 9 a.m. for high school students and the second at 10 a.m. open for all prospective students.

Cash for College provides hands-on assistance to college-bound students and their parents in completing and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid application (FAFSA) and the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) for the 2025-2026 academic year. A student smiles at a scholarship event.

“What makes Cash of College so special here at Mt. SAC is that it brings our entire campus together for the sole goal of supporting students and their families complete their financial aid application,” said Rosie Esparza, Financial Aid and Special Programs manager.

“The campus community volunteers to support the event by directly being trained to assist families complete a FAFSA or CADAA application. We have over 20 volunteers, including Board of Trustee members, trained in providing FAFSA and CADAA assistance to over 200 students and their families.”

Students should bring:

  • FSA ID (For FAFSA filers ONLY)
  • Driver's License, if you have one
  • Social Security Card, if you have one
  • Permanent Resident Card, if you have one
  • ITIN, if you have one
  • List of Colleges you are interested in
  • Most current bank statements
  • Any records of untaxed income
  • 2023 tax  year information (1040s and W2s)

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about student services during a resource and workshop fair.
