      Furniture of America SignJames Lai

James was born it Taiwan and came to the US when he was 8 years old. His first stay in the US was San Diego, where he lived for few years. It was in San Diego that he learned both English and Spanish.  After a few years his family moved to  City of Orange and he has been living there ever since with his beautiful wife and his 8 year old daughter.

James graduated from Villa Park High School and Cal State San Bernardino with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Spanish. After graduating from CSUSB, he started working in a small import company in Vernon, CA. He chose to start in a small company because he wanted to learn all aspects of business: from the warehouse to accounting, purchasing, marketing and sales. In a small company you have to do everything. After years of experiences building up his skills and resume, James went to a bigger company in Cerritos and worked there for 18 years. His main responsibility was managing a team handling US major retailers such as JoAnn Fabric, Michaels, TJ Maxx, Pier 1 Import, William Sonoma, Bath and Body, and more. His primary duty was sales, but he also engaged in other departments to assist the company to grow. After 18 years, Furniture of America approached him with an opportunity to join a company that is employee owned. Here in FOA, James plays the same role to assist the company in all areas to help the company to grow.
