Aeronautics, Transportation Department
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Certificate program prepares students for careers in the rapidly growing drone industry by combining flight training with multirotor and fixed-wing aircraft, advanced piloting, documentation skills, industry standards and mission planning with data collection and analysis. Students build skills in safety, navigation, aerial imaging, flight planning, photogrammetry, and geospatial software while gaining experience with UAS components, ground stations, and telemetry. The curriculum also addresses FAA and ASTM regulations, privacy and cybersecurity concerns, and professional development through resume and interview preparation. Graduates are prepared to understand the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) role to enter a wide range of fields, including surveying, inspection, agriculture, environmental monitoring, emergency response, BVLOS operations and media production.
