An introduction to the various general office and administrative support jobs. Training and skill building in filing systems and procedures, proofreading, telephone techniques, faxing, emailing, electronic calendaring of events, appointments and meetings, memos, and business letters. Essential topics include word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and presentation software. Â
Program Learning Outcomes
- Students will promote effective communication amongst employers, co-workers, and customers by utilizing New World of Works 21st Century Skills.
- Students will perform all general office clerk tasks and understand the systems and procedures of organizing and planning office work, and exercise leadership skills in the business environment.
- Students will follow directions as well as demonstrate management initiative, dependability, and pride in good work.
- Students will prepare for an employment interview, including developing responses, creating a career portfolio, and dressing for success.
- Students will perform skills of Microsoft Office suite, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint through hands-on training.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of basic Windows operations, use of current learning management system for online education, and utilization of multimedia software and equipment to ensure relative training for the 21st century.
- Students will demonstrate the use of AI to perform essential office skills.
