How to Apply

To access services offered by the Mt. SAC CalWORKs program, you must be currently receiving county TANF/CalWORKs (cash aid) for yourself and at least one minor dependent (child under the age of 18).

Interested students must complete the following steps to be fully admitted and onboarded to the Mt. SAC CalWORKs program.

    • 1Obtain a Verification of Benefits (VOB) to Verify Eligibility

      You must attach and submit a Verification of Benefits (VOB) with your program application in order to complete the application and allow us to verify your eligibility.  

      Instructions on how to access your Verification of Benefits (VOB) 

      The Verification of Benefits form can be obtained in your BenefitsCal Portal or contact your Cash Aid worker.

       BenefitsCal

      A verification of benefits is available within BenefitsCal, if you have linked your case  to your account. 

      • From the dashboard, find “Your Applications and Cases.” 
      • Click the button to “View Case Details.”
      • The page will have details for each program. Scroll down to click the link “download your benefits verifications.”
      • “Release of Information will open, 
      • Click the button “Create Notice.” A benefits verification PDF will download to your computer.
      • Click the file to open and save the PDF file.
      • Submit that PFD file by uploading it to your CalWORKs Program Application when prompted.   

      Contact the Mt. SAC CalWORKs office at 909-274-4755 if you have issues obtaining your Verification of Benefits. 

      Note: You will be expected to submit an update Verification of Benefits (VOB) every January and July.  

    • 2Complete the online Mt. SAC CalWORKs Program Application &  Submit a Verification of Benefits (VOB) to Verify Eligibility

      All applicants must have a valid Mt. SAC student ID number before filling out forms. If you do not have a student ID number, please contact the admissions office at (909) 274-4415 for assistance.  

      • Log in to Etrieve using your student portal username and password:  

      Mt. SAC CalWORKs Online Application 

      Read, complete, and submit all application pages. You must click the "submit" button after filling out each application page.   Application Pages Include:

      • Instructions for Qualifying Participants
      • CalWORKs Program Application (Including uploading your Verification of Benefits (VOB))
      • Needs Assessment Form
      • Accountability Agreement
      • Mandated Reporting Notice Form
      • Visual/Audio Image Release Form

      Once your completed application is reviewed, a CalWORKs Program staff member will contact you to schedule your Program Overview (orientation).

    • 3Complete a Program Overview Appointment

      Meet with a Programs Specialist to review all program services, policies, and student expectations and requirements. 

    • 4Meet with a CalWORKs Counselor 

      Meet with a CalWORKs counselor to complete a comprehensive Educational Plan that will guide you to attain your academic goals at Mt. SAC.  

      Note: You will be expected to meet with the counselor at least once a semester. 

    • 5Complete and Ancillary Appointment

      Meet with a Program Specialist to complete your Supportive Services/Ancillary  requests to submit to the county for funding for your books, fees, transportation,  etc. 

      Note: You will be expected to meet with the Program Specialist at least once a  semester for case management & support.
