Assessment and Matriculation Committee

Purpose:

To ensure that the College’s assessment and placement processes contribute to student equity and success and are implemented in compliance with state regulations. The committee will make recommendations related to assessment, placement, orientation, and counseling/advising.

Function:

  1. Review and make recommendations to Student Preparation, Equity, and Achievement Council (SPEAC) regarding assessment, placement, orientation, and counseling/advising. 
  2. Review and provide feedback about College’s Student Equity Plan and other initiatives as they relate to assessment and matriculation. 
  3. Review and update all reports to and from the Chancellor’s Office regarding all assessment and matriculation issues. 
  4. Ensure implementation of assessment and matriculation policies and plans; develop effective assessment practices in compliance with state policy and guidelines. 
  5. Provide parameters and guidelines for assessment and placement, continually evaluate and refine current assessment processes to lead to accurate placement for students, and study alternatives to existing assessment practices in consultation with appropriate departments.
  6. Recommend to the Director of offices of Research & Institutional Effectiveness (RIE) and Information Technology (IT) what information and data should be collected, stored, and analyzed for assessment and matriculation purposes.
  7. Support Guided Pathways and equity efforts related to assessment and matriculation.
