Honors Program Student Manali Shah

The Title V has supported the Honors Program cohorts with additional staffing hours, orientation supplies, a large screen digital display for students to practice professional presentations techniques, among other benefits. The Title V Director interviewed rock-start student, Manali Shah, who shared her wonderful educational career. She is a 3rd year Biomedical Engineering student planning to transfer to a UC in the Fall of 2018. Manali's career goal is to a Physics or Math professor. She told the Director, "I was not planning to go to a community college; I was hoping for a four year university, but finances prohibited me. I met Anita Baily of High School Outreach at Mt. SAC, as well as Maryanne Tolano Laveque, and I applied to the Honors Program. The main things I liked about it were my two best friends I met while in the cohort. Being with like-minded people helped me make family on campus. I eventually ran for a position on the Honors Ambassador's Board and became Outreach Coordinator. I did training sessions with Heidi Lockhart, the Director, to get more students to join. I think the space needs to be bigger though. I still stop in and hang out." We wish Manali all the best in her career!
