Data Conferencing, Coaching, and Creating a Culture of Inquiry at Mt. SAC
The Title V Goals
"Build the capacity of faculty to access, understand, and use data to measure the impact of pedagogies on student outcomes."
Data Coaching
At Mt. SAC, we are creating a "culture of inquiry" through purposeful professional development in the area of data and research.
The Power of Our Data Conference
Data is everywhere at Mt. SAC. From Sabbatical Research, to the Hope Survey for Food Insecurities, to Faculty, Student, and Staff research on campus, we are rich in data. Come learn about the myriad opportunities to engage with and make meaning of data.
Data is everywhere at Mt. SAC, but is it easy to access and understand? The Title V grant, in partnership with The Office of Research and Institutional Effectiveness, will launch an initiative under Goal #3 of the grant to "Build the capacity of faculty to access, understand, and use data to measure the impact of pedagogies on student outcomes." To this end, the campus will host an annual conference, "The Power of Our Data" on March 13th, 2020. Click here for the agenda. Register here: Listen to the PODCAST on a Culture of Inquiry at Mt. SAC with Dr. Tania Anders, Dr. Lisa Rodriguez, and Senior Research Analyst, Daniel Berumen of RIE. Magic Mountie Podcast. |

Data Coaching will be a new project under the grant. This is an exciting opportunity for faculty to become field researchers. The project will develop a cohort of faculty members as data coaches who will provide direct support to their peers. This three-day training commitment will be followed up with periodic check-ins as a cohort. New faculty will be trained each year, chosen from among the various academic divisions and student services. Imparting this information on a cross-section of the faculty will lead to greater instances of collaborative inquiry, whereby educators work together to analyze student data, identify equity gaps, pilot new instructional strategies, and measure the impact of these new pedagogies on student outcomes." | |
