About Financial Literacy in the Title V Grant
A Pew research study showed that 54% of Americans spend more than they earn. According to a recent study by the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (2019), 42% of millennials model their financial behavior after their parents, whether their parents have strong or weak financial literacy. Stolper & Walter (2017) explain that levels of financial literacy are low. Low-income individuals are even further disadvantaged by their lack of financial knowledge. This project will implement various strategies to improve students’ (and staff) understanding and practices around money management:
- Consumer Resource Center
- Money management workshops
- Online module on financial literacy (money management)
- Consumer Resource Fair
- Peer mentors for financial literacy outreach
- Educator workshops on financial literacy
