    • Bystander Intervention

Students play a critical role in preventing harm. Everyone has a responsibility to prevent hazing and keep the community safe. Intervene early on, directly or indirectly, to prevent hazing from happening and cultivate healthy group spaces.

When you need to intervene, use this simple model to guide your actions:

      • Direct : If you feel safe, speak up to confront the behavior directly. You can say, "Hey, this doesn't look right. Let's stop.
      • Distract : Create a diversion or interrupt the harmful behavior to shift attention away from the situation.
      • Delegate : Get help from someone in a position of authority or who can safely intervene. This means contacting a staff member, coach, or Campus Police.
