Masoud Roueintan, Professor of Chemistry

Biography:

After successfully completing the core course requirements for chemistry major at Mt. SAC, I transferred to University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where I double majored in Chemistry and Iranian Studies. Then my journey took me to California State University Fullerton (CSUF) where I earned my Master’s Degree in Physical Chemistry in 2014. At CSUF, I studied the kinetics of OH radicals reaction with naphthalene, styrene, and 1,4-dioxane molecules at 240 – 340 K and 1 – 3 Torr using the Relative Rate/Discharge Flow/Mass Spectrometry (RR/DF/MS) Technique. I also conducted some theoretical studies on the dynamics of OH radicals reaction with naphthalene and styrene for both OH additions to 𝛼 and 𝛽 carbons of naphthalene and H abstraction from 𝛼 and 𝛽 carbons of naphthalene by OH radical using Density Functional Theory (DFT). One of the most important discoveries of my life was during my tenure as a graduate student at CSUF, where I discovered my love and passion for teaching and decided to pursue a career in teaching chemistry at community college level.

Immediately after graduation, I was offered a part-time lecturer position at the CSUF Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry where I mainly taught a General Chemistry for Engineers course. In Addition, I worked as an adjunct chemistry professor at Mt. SAC, Fullerton College, and Riverside City College from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, I was hired as a full-time professor of chemistry at Mt. SAC and have enjoyed working with a diverse group of talented and motivated students and an outstanding group of educators campus-wide.

As a former Mountie, I am honored to be able to serve you. Please do not hesitate to send me an email if you have any chemistry related questions.
