Martin Mason is the Chair of the Physics and Engineering Department at Mt. San Antonio College and has been on the faculty since 2002.   His research areas are primarily in robotics with an emphasis on self-initiation in artificial systems and the development of efficient gaits for bipedal robots.  He founded and mentors the Mt. SAC robotics team which has gone on to win both national and international competitions.  He is a founding member, and serves on the board for the local Makerspace (MAGLab).  He is also the faculty coordinator for the Mt. SAC makerspace, an open fabrication space that serves Mt. SAC students and the community.

Mason enjoys competing on the ABC television show BattleBots and nationally in combat robotics as part of Team Think Tank and Team Bad Kitty. He also founded and mentors that Mt. SAC rocket team which is the highest nationally ranked Community College team in the International Experimental Sounding Rocket Association competition.

He is especially pleased to have won the distinguished faculty award for outstanding teaching.   Mason received his MS in Physics from UC Riverside and an MS in Robotics from the University of Plymouth.
