Mala grew up mostly in So Cal, living in a rural area that provided many opportunities for building and repairing things. She attended Cal State Fullerton and then transferred to Harvey Mudd College, which she graduated from with a BS. She worked as an engineer at various companies and did some freelancing, then provided tech support at USC School of Medicine for 6 years. Mt. SAC hired her as the Education Technology Coordinator for another 6 years. The family moved to England for almost a year, and after returning, Mala managed a homeschool experience for her son and for other children. Later, she worked at Citrus College, providing tech support for a Title IX grant supporting technology for students who want to become teachers. Then she returned to Mt. SAC as both a Computer Lab Tech and the Project Manager for the Mountie MakerSpace, until summer of 2017 when the MakerSpace was almost ready to open. Mala has enjoyed managing the Mountie MakerSpace and its creative, competent members since August 2017.
