Julie Marquez, Ed.D.

Dr. Julie Marquez began her career at The Fulfillment Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students pursue higher education. As Lead College Access Advisor, she guided Los Angeles high school students through the college application process and inspired them to dream big.

She later joined the University of California, Irvine, as Coordinator of the Upward Bound Program, serving students from her hometown of Anaheim, a role that allowed her to give back to her community. After three years at UCI, she became the Director of the Upward Bound Program at Norco College, where she also enjoyed teaching a counseling course and supporting students as an adjunct counselor.

Dr. Marquez went on to lead Coastline College’s EOPS/CARE/NextUp & CalWORKs programs before finding her professional home at Mt. San Antonio College. For more than seven years, she has proudly served as Director of the EOPS/CARE Program, continuing her commitment to equity, access, and student success.

Personal Background

Dr. Marquez is a proud first-generation college graduate who comes from a low-income, immigrant background. Born in a small town in the state of Mexico, she immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1986 in search of better educational opportunities. Her father, who completed only the sixth grade, instilled in her the value of education and perseverance. Dr. Marquez remains deeply grateful to her parents for their courage and sacrifices, which laid the foundation for her success.
