ARTG20: Art and Culture - Galleries, Museums, and Their Communities
CRN 23427
Monday & Wednesday, 11:30 am – 2:30pm (with a break in the middle)

This is the first course in the Art: Gallery & Professional Practices (ARTG) Certificate offered at Mt. SAC, which students can earn at the same time as their degree. Students are welcome to take the course with or without pursuing the certificate.
Students do not have to be an art major to take this course, it is useful for anyone interested in the arts who would like to explore museums and galleries and understand them better.
It is particularly useful for those majoring in the following areas:
- Fine Art
- Art History
- Archeology
- Cultural Studies
- Commercial Arts
- Library Sciences
Students from all areas are welcome!
Your students may also consider taking the short, eight-week writing course to help them advertise themselves as artists and/or arts professionals:

Mondays 3:30-6:45pm (with a break in the middle)
Students will learn to advertise themselves as artists and create materials for exhibitions:
- artist statements
- artist bios
- press releases
- exhibition critiques
