MOMENT OF SILENCE
  • Observed a moment of silence for retired Psychology Professor George Martin on August 27, 2020, at the age of 80, after battling cancer for nine years. George was part of the Mt. SAC family for 50 years. He retired in 2003, after 33 years of service, when his grandson Bobby and his eldest daughter Jeni passed unexpectedly. A year after their death, he returned to Mt. SAC as an Adjunct Psychology Professor. George was continually seeking new ways of presenting educational material due to his prior experience. Prior to Mt. SAC, he worked as a training analyst where his team successfully developed the first computer-assisted, computer-managed, self-paced individual educational system for training LAPD recruits. He attended UCLA, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He received his M.A. in Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles  and his M.S. in Counseling at California State University, Fullerton. He was born in Los Angeles on May 8, 1940. He enjoyed his grandsons T.J. and Bobby and granddaughter Trysten. George was married to Kathy Laub for 20 years. He leaves behind his wife; his daughter Kim; grandchildren TJ, Trysten, and Bobby; his sister Midge; brother Pat; son-in-law Rowen; and many dear friends. George will be missed by those that knew him.
