Degrees:
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, B.A. English, Minor Spanish and Psychology, M.A. Education with Specialization in Counseling and Guidance
Bio:
I am an Adjunct EOPS/CARE Counselor at Mount San Antonio College. I joined the Mt SAC family in 2018, where I have also served as a General Counselor, CalWORKs Counselor, and Counseling Instructor. I was a first-generation college student, born of low-income immigrant parents, and raised in the heart of Los Angeles. It is my goal to support students in achieving their goals and realizing their potentials. My students inspire me every day and I become whatever they need me to become, i.e. an advisor, an ally, an advocate, a mentor.
Why do you like participating in the Mountie Mentor Program?
I like participating in MMM because I appreciate hearing students' stories. Everyone has their own unique narrative. It is a privilege when it is shared, and it is incredible that we can come together and build each other up.Advice for students:
It is incredibly important to get connected and realize that you share a similar experience to more people thank you think. Don’t give up. If at any time you have doubts about your abilities as a student or as an individual, I am happy to meet you and be the support you need to help you realize you deserve to be here and you have what it takes. You're amazing!
