Bio:
I am an immigrant from Guatemala. I am first-generation college graduate and first in my family to serve in the U.S. military. While going to school to earn my bachelor and masters I was a single father and had to work to support my two children. Working as a counselor is my second career since I had to shift career paths when I left military. I like to travel and explore new cultures and foods. I also like live concerts. My favorite sport is soccer and my childhood dream is to attend live world cup games.
Why do you like participating in the Mountie Mentor Program?
I like to connect with students outside the classroom and counseling office setting. I like to hear their stories and goals and share with them that one day I too had stories and goals just like them.Advice for students:
Never be afraid to ask questions or ask for assistance. The sky is the limit and always remember that you have many people who support you and who are cheering for your academic success.
