Bio:
Hello everyone! My name is Gilbert Alvarado. I'm an alumni student, and I have been working at Mt.SAC for 5 years! I am currently an Adjunct Counselor, General at Mt.SAC. My emphasis has been in developing a strong general counseling foundation that includes knowledge of specialty areas such as career, re-entry, first-year success, transfer, probation and dismissal, guided pathways, minority male initiative, and summer bridge programs. In my free time, I enjoy collecting vinyl records, working on cars, and being with my family.

Why do you like participating in the Mountie Mentor Program?
I love participating in MMM because it gives me an opportunity to meet new students and create a sense of community. Additionally, I enjoy the topics we discuss, ranging from transfer to motivation, with our students because it helps them understand that they are not alone.

Advice for students:
Get out and explore. Live. Thrive. Challenge yourself. Evolve.
