MMI Winter and Summer Retreats
Our MMI student leadership retreats are comprised of minority male students from not only our program, but others such as (EOPS, Aspire/Umoja, Arise/AANAPISI, Dream, Bridge, ACES/TRiO, DSPS, REACH/Foster Youth). With the theme “I Can, I Will,” training topics have included: Impostor Syndrome, Locus of Control, Social Capital, Stereotype Threat, Code Switching, and Emotional Intelligence. We also spend the retreat participating in activities such as archery, zip-lining, and workshops. Students enjoy their time spent as well as learn new skills and develop themselves further from the time spent here.
Winter Retreat 2022
Ever been fishing? Many of the brothas at MMI hadn't been before either, so we all hopped aboard a fishing boat, grabbed a pole, and went deep sea fishing.
Summer Retreat 2022
By the end of the Summer Retreat, 2022, our students were survival experts in battling the infamous Bruin Bear! One of our members can be seen showcasing a fierce battle cry as they battle this large beast.
Retreat Journal
Every retreat, we create a journal filled with the content of our workshops and discussions throughout our journey. These booklets contain the schedules of our retreats along with discussions on topics, such as Brand Identity and "Who I am Becoming."
