Several of Hollywood’s top screenwriters and producers come together to discuss the
business of storytelling in an ever-changing media world that seems to be simultaneously
expanding and contracting as streaming and the globalization of content take center
stage.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are the issues of our time, and at the center of this
matter is our media. Finding, fostering, and amplifying voices of historically marginalized
communities (POC, AAPI, LGBTQ+, Women) is gaining traction in film and television
– both behind and in front of the camera – and impacts all of us, not only as consumers,
but as aspiring participants in the media world.
Please join us for a frank roundtable discussion with successful Hollywood insiders
(including several Mt. SAC graduates), and get their take on where we’ve been, where
we are, and where things are going in the media’s decades long struggle to portray
our world as it really is.
Clio Award winning illustrator Orlando Arocena will discuss the ins and outs of the
current freelance market, his experience working with a wide range of clients, and
the growing opportunities for illustrators in the entertainment industry, while also
offering insight into the importance of personal branding and working in his signature
vector style.
A conversation with Luke Flowers on his approach to narrative storytelling and the
creative process as he brings stories to life through illustrations. We will hear
about Mr. Flowers’ artistic background, where he draws inspiration, his experiences
with powerful publishers like Scholastic, and how exhibiting in galleries can impact
an illustrator’s career.
An exploration of Jason Perez's stunning photographic series that chronicles the haunting
past and deeply inspirational present of the Armenian people.
A candid conversation with five young professional photographers where they discuss
everything from key early career moves that helped them break into the competitive
field to thriving in a gig economy and pitfalls every young photographer should avoid.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 ImagineFest will not host live events on campus. In compliance with safety protocols all live events will be held entirely on-line.
