What motivated you to go to college? My motivation came from my mother, church and community who showed examples of hard, work and grit. Coming from Lynwood, I was always encouraged to pursue a college degree.

Describe your college experience as first-generation. It was amazing attending an HBCU. I was accepted, validated and commissioned to "Lift as I Climb" I cannot say enough about my alma mater, faculty, and friends who have such an amazing example. BEHOLD

What unique challenges did you face? The challenges I face d was going in unchartered territory. I have to learn how to be a college student. I have to be my own boss.

How did you overcome those challenges? Prayer, family, and a supportive village.

What did you advise other first-generation students? Take advantage of all the resources and always know that we make educational spaces the rich spaces they are.
