What motivated you to go to college? Seeing my parents struggle to make ends meet was one of the motivating factors in my life.

Describe your college experience as first-generation. My college experience as a first-generation student was empowering.

What unique challenges did you face? Some unique challenges that I faced was learning how to reach out and seek out the help that I needed.

How did you overcome those challenges? I overcame this challenge by connecting with faculty and staff at MtSAC who became my supportive network of individuals who encouraged and inspired me to succeed in college. Because of the support and encouragement, I was able to graduate with honors, earn my degree and transfer to my dream school, UCLA!

What did you advise other first-generation students? My advise to first generation students is to always ask for help and use the student resources that are in place to support your academic journey at MtSAC! You got this!!!
