What colleges did you attend? Degrees earned? California State University, Long Beach - Health Science in Community Education

What motivated you to go to college? My parents had always strongly encouraged their children to obtain a degree.

Describe your college experience as first-generation. I had a wonderful college experience. It opened my eyes to a world of other people and cultures.

What unique challenges did you face? I did not have a strong support system while in college. There were a lot of opportunities I missed out on.

How did you overcome those challenges? I did not overcome those challenges for myself per se, but I did share what resources I have learned about after the fact to my younger sibling.

What did you advise other first-generation students? Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions, find out all the qualifying program you could have been eligible for, and try study abroad.
