What motivated you to go to college? Felt that it was the best option to start a career.

Describe your college experience as first-generation. It was a great experience. I was a member of the cross country and track teams. I belonged to the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. I was from NJ so I was a long way from home. A few of my friends from High school came to North Texas with me. They were music majors. The University was and still is the number 2 Jazz music school in the nation. I was a Business Major. When I went to the school it was known as North Texas State University. It changed to the University of North Texas in 1988.

What unique challenges did you face? I didn't have any base knowledge about what to expect. I had the weight of great expectations for the first person in the family to attend college. I had to manage being an athlete. a student, and my social life in the fraternity.

How did you overcome those challenges? I set personal goals and managed my time wisely.

What did you advise other first-generation students? I advise them to commit to their goals and never quit. Enjoy your time in college. College is the best and most challenging experience you may ever have.
