Membership

You must become a member to use the MakerSpace. Membership is free!

At this point in time, we can only offer membership to:

  • Mt. SAC students, both credit and noncredit
  • Mt. SAC faculty, both full-time and adjunct
  • Mt. SAC staff and administrators

Once you have signed our membership form and signed into our database computer, your membership is valid until we update our membership terms (typically at the start of a semester). Renewing is as simple as signing the newest form!

Membership Registration Process

    • 1Step 1: Be Affiliated with Mt. SAC

You must be a current Mt. SAC student, staff, faculty, or administrator to become a MakerSpace member.

If you are a student, you must be registered for at least one credit or non-credit course:

      • whose CRN does not start with a 5 (e.g. 58322)
      • is not a high school equivalence course
      • is not a tutoring CRN (such as for academic support centers or supplementary instruction).

Our staff are happy to recommend courses!

    • 2Step 2: Come to the MakerSpace

We only register members in person, so come by during our open hours (Mon-Fri, 3:30-9:30PM) or when your class or organization has a reservation.

    • 3Step 3: Sign the Most Current Membership Form

You must sign a physical copy of the most current membership form before your membership is official. You may not use the MakerSpace until you've filled out the form and submitted it to our staff in person during our open hours.

If you are a student, you must also register on your portal for the current term's MakerSpace CRN. For Spring 2024, this is 43987. It should show up in your class list as VOC FAB 0 once registered.

    • 4Step 4: Take an Orientation Tour

After signing into our login computers, the first time you use the MakerSpace you must complete an orientation tour with one of our staff members. They will initial and file your completed membership form at the tour's conclusion. You may not use the MakerSpace until you've completed such a tour.

Even if you are ineligible to become a member, you may still sign a physical liability waiver and take an orientation tour, but you may not then become a member until you are eligibile (see Step 1).
