Adding colorful icons to a sidebar menu can help visitors to quickly identify the type of content that is available on your website.

In addition, where applicable, consider writing menu text that adds an element of personal engagement with the user. In the menu below, the text "How do I...?" has quick visual and attractive effect meant to draw the user in.

Note that menus should not be duplicated elsewhere on the page and that placement depends on the number and length of the menu options.
