Art History Tea Talk
October 23, 2024 - 04:08 PM
Please join us for an Art History Tea Talk, where Dr. Cristina Hernàndez will discuss
her research on the ancient Roman town of Pompeii. The title of her talk is, "Designing
for the Environment: Climate-responsive building features in the houses and villas
of Roman Pompeii."
How did Romans keep their houses cool during hot summer months? How did they warm their bathrooms when temperatures dropped? This presentation will discuss how Romans designed and built houses with climate-responsive building features to cultivate cool, shaded microenvironments during the summer, or warm sunny microenvironments during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of Pompeii’s houses, villas, and domestic baths!
This event is free and open to all members of the Mt. SAC community. It will take place at the Student Center (Building 410), Summit Rooms IV and V (Third Floor) on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 1:15–2:40 pm. Refreshments will be served!
For questions or to request disability-related accommodations, contact Dr. Alexandra Creola by midnight, Thursday, October 17, 2024.
We hope to see you there!
