Mt. SAC, Cal Poly Pomona Team Up for Transfer Success
Mt. San Antonio College students will soon be able to transfer more easily to continue their higher education journey at Cal Poly Pomona thanks to a new agreement between the neighboring institutions.
Supporting students is key to our college’s mission and this MOU will make the transfer process seamless, enabling more students to achieve their educational goals.
Mt. SAC President/CEO Dr. Martha Garcia and CPP President Dr. Soraya Coley signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday, committing to strengthening relations and increasing the number of transfer students through the “Bridge to Success” partnership.
“I am very pleased to join with President Coley on this significant collaboration,” Dr. Garcia said. “Supporting students is key to our college’s mission and this MOU will make the transfer process seamless, enabling more students to achieve their educational goals.”
CPP is the top transfer destination for Mt. SAC students. Over the past five years, CPP has welcomed an average of 707 transfer students annually from Mt. SAC, reflecting a strong partnership and commitment to student success. Leaders from both institutions aim to restore enrollment to pre-pandemic levels, when nearly 1,000 Mt. SAC students transferred to CPP each year.
Through the partnership, the two institutions seek to accomplish the following:
- Streamline the transfer process to enhance student completion rates
- Collaborate to promote and support students participating in the dual admission program
- Share data to support student success and guide informed policy decisions
“This partnership focuses on student success and uplifting underserved communities. Together with Mt. SAC, we will shape our region, state and nation for the better by removing barriers from anyone seeking a college degree,” Dr. Coley said. “I look forward to the work ahead and celebrating our graduates for decades to come.”
